Sacred Music in Uganda has a rich history and is influenced by a variety of traditions. From our own traditional music and modern popular styles  that have inspired the way composers write in new styles that became possible after the Second Vatican Council; to more defined influences from the West in terms of hymns, classical repertoire and Baroque counterpoint. All these influences intermingle to create a mix of sacred compositions that make our liturgies musically so beautiful and moving.

We hope to move step by step and put together resources that explore this rich heritage, and make these available to all interested persons, be they Music directors, Teachers, Researchers, Students or any other musician/person who wishes to widen their knowledge. The resources will offer not only deep insights and reflections, but also musicological and practical tips for ready application.

"Powerful sources of spiritual enrichment spring from music... If the child is not filled at least once with the life-giving stream of music...it will hardly be of use to him later on. Often a single experience will open the young soul to music for a lifetime." Zoltan Kodaly

"Musical training is a more potent instrument than any other, because rhythm and melody find their way into the inward places of the soul." Plato

„Creativity takes Courage“
